"switch hitter"
"Switch Hitter" is a performance that I concocted in Spring 2005*, after finding my own name written in a bathroom stall at SF State, on an advertisement for "Switch Hitter" soda pop. (I know, weird name for soda.)
The performance uses humorous gestures, music, and imagery to explore the violence of being "outed," and also to reclaim sexual identity after it has been twisted by hate and turned into an insult: "bisexual," "kinky," "slut," "fag," or "pervert."
The video is hilarious, it's intended to serve as a backdrop for the live Human performance. I've taken it offline because it has some genital stillframes and a picture of me in bed with the rapper 5-Cent, and these days those things would not be good for my career. i'm waiting for someone random to post it at some future time...
Special thanks to Lee Manansala for recording the digital stills and bathroom sounds.
